My name is Shirley Martinez and I am proud to be a State Farm Agent in Schenectady, NY. I was born and raised in New York. I also met my husband, John, while I attended college at the University at Albany.

When I started working in the insurance world, I never envisioned this would become my passion. The reason I became a State Farm Agent all started from a casual conversation with a young 19 year old boy who was ready to get his first automobile policy. Because of our conversation the boy decided that he wanted to purchase a small $25,000 life policy along with his auto insurance, just in case... Unfortunately, he passed away 2 days later from an accident. His decision, to protect his family, to this day reminds me of why I am so proud to help my community manage the risks of everyday life, to recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams.

Though life insurance is a big passion of mine, another reason I love State Farm is because of all the other products they offer.
